I experienced it first hand yesterday at a networking lunch. I was chatting it up with everyone and met two awesome guys: Mr. Money Saver Startup Dude and Mr. Financial Planner. The two had known each other for a YEAR thru this group and had never seen how their businesses could influence each other. Um, isn’t this a networking group? So I told Mr. Money Saver that probably Mr. Financial Planner has a buncha clients who are trying to save moola (for said financial planning) and they ought to connect. They did and traded straight up referrals. Shazam. Did I get anything out of that? Not right now. Maybe not ever. Or maybe I will one day. Either way I’m happy – connecting others and giving them business gives me so much more than I can ever imagine. Givers, you see, get more.
Now, just for a little while, set your Type-A aside and take the focus off of being a go-getter so you can practice being a go-giver.
