I distinctly remember how this all got started. I can sit here and tell you I hustled, I rose above, I lived my truth….and all of that IS fact. But when it comes down to brass tacks (where did that saying come from anyways?!), I was lucky.
And then there was that feeling…. that oh-shit-how-am-I-going-to-do- this-on-my-own gut wrenching feeling. I’d never run a company before. I certainly had never planned on THIS. But there I was – living my truth, fulfilling that side of me that was created to be of service and to lead atthesametime. I dropped myself smack dab in the middle of entrepreneurship and I haven’t looked back.
Over time I learned that it takes a village to raise a, um, business. I reached out to my peeps, to those who I wanted to consider to be my peeps, and to those who would never be my peeps but I admired them all the same. I studied, I listened, I planned, and then I sat back and let my instincts take over. Funny thing, those instincts, they always seem to be right.
Side note:
When I work with my amazing clients on their Business Boosters, I always ask about their dreams. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Why are you creating this product? What is the end goal? These questions help us dive into the WHY behind what they do. It helps me give them the HOW once I know the WHY.
You WHY is your instincts kicking in. Your WHY is your gut talking. It’s what took over when you had that oh shit feeling. It’s what’s driving you now.
Earlier this week I stood in the shower at 10pm with that very same oh shit feeling. Motherhood has given me this feeling on the regular, friend. I’ve never done this before. I never thought I’d be a mother one day, let alone partner to an incredible man and mom to such an amazing tiny human.
But here I am. In it. Feeling it. Following my instincts. And finding my village.
The rambling baby brain point here is this: LIFE takes a village. You must find yours and put out the rally call. Hell, grab a village for your business, another for raising your kiddos, and another for dealing with loving your spouse. And another for getting your ass to yoga every now and again.
Villages become towns, towns become cities, cities become states, states become countries, and countries become empires.
I’m building my empire one village at a time. What does your empire look like?
