Two little words that aren’t said enough, but have such a huge impact… so I’ll say ’em again:
Thank you.
Thanks!
Gracias!
Merci!
I’ve been talking about thank you’s a lot recently with my clients and it really has me thinking: too often, we wait for scheduled times to say “thanks!”. Earth Day, Administrative Professionals Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving.
Here’s my question: Why not every day? Imagine if you thanked each and every person who serves you in some way throughout your day. Just think what may happen if you were given a big “thank you” each time you did something for someone else.
When was the last time you got a thank you card in the mail? When have you recently sent one? Now, believe me, this is on my List of Things to Get Better at in 2013, for sure. So I’ll start here:
Thanks for being on this list. For showing up each week. For reading my words and sharing them with friends. For participating fully in your life, your business, and the world you are creating.
If asking for help/advice/consolation/love is so easy, then giving thanks when you get it needs to come next. And the best part is: it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
Giving thanks quite regularly will improve your business. Your love life. Your family dynamic. Your feelings toward strangers. Get inspired with these 5 ways to give thanks:
- Cheer for other people’s wins. Showing your support and being on their team is an active way of giving thanks without saying a word.
- Go personal. Even if your brand is huge, you can have a big impact with a simple note.
- Make it personal. Get creative. Leave an impact.
- Be authentic, plain and simple.
- Encourage the heart. Do something for someone else without being asked.
How do you give thanks? Better yet, what’s the best way you’ve ever received a thank you that truly touched your heart and left an impression? Let me know in the comments or on Twitter!
