Not feeling inspired lately? Got the hum drums pounding away in your ears? Thump thump thump.
I hear ya. There are days when the coffee isn’t quite strong enough, the work in front of me isn’t instantly inspiring, and my friends aren’t hilarious at every turn.
And then I realize….I’m looking at everything else around me instead of INSIDE for my own inspiration! Why is it someone {or something} else’s job to inspire me? I’m flippin’ inspirational to myself! So how do I flip the tables and bring on the inspiration? Here it is, in 4 easy steps:
1. DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE When you break out of the box you put yourself in and do something you totally love, you find your core. Play the piano, workout, grab lunch with a friend, write a poem, bake a cake, swing on a swingset. Just do you.
2. CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT What you were doing wasn’t working so change it up. Trying to write the next chapter of your book? Switch coffee shops. Couldn’t concentrate on your standard lifting routine? Go for a run. Changing your locale can change your perspective.
3. SET A TIMELINE Without a plan of when you want to accomplish things by, your time can seem endless. Set a clock, tell someone to call you in an hour, just put a time limit on the task at hand.
4. GET TO IT! Step 4 is super easy once you’ve done 1-3. So really it’s three easy steps. How inspirational!
What holds you back from inspiring yourself? Got a trick to add to my list above? I’d love to hear them. Inspire me!
